Before You Quit Social Media - Ask the right questions!

By: Kayla McDonald

As a Business owner you’ve probably wondered if your social media efforts are worthwhile. Honestly there's no reason to feel any guilt for questioning this. Especially during times of high inflation when, for most of us, Money is tight and Time is scarce. However, it is important to remember that social media can be a powerful tool for business growth and brand awareness. It allows you to reach a wider audience, engage with your customers, and build meaningful relationships. By investing time and resources into strategic social media marketing, you can potentially see significant returns on your efforts.

That’s one of the main reasons I believe Digital Marketing can be the best thing for your business based on how easy and affordable it is to measure results! To get started, I suggest analyzing data and customer engagement. Nowadays most social media networks allow you to view necessary page data absolutely FREE for things like what content you posted, number of views, comments, direct messages etc.

Once you’ve gathered some data, compare it to the business goals. Yes… I advocate for Goal setting because it’s critical in measuring results! Setting clear goals allows you to track your progress and determine if your marketing efforts are aligning with your desired outcomes. By regularly reviewing and analyzing the data, you can make informed decisions and adjust your marketing strategies accordingly. This not only helps you measure the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns but also ensures that you are maximizing your return on investment (ROI).

To speed up your decision-making process, I put together a short list of questions to ask Before You Quit Social Media:

  • How did you hear about us? This is a valuable question to ask new leads. It helps you understand which marketing channels are driving the most traffic and generating the most leads for your business. Identifying how people are being exposed to your brand, can take the guess work out of promoting. It may also reduce marketing or advertising expenses. Furthermore, it allows you to identify any gaps in your marketing efforts and allocate resources more effectively to those channels that are bringing in the most qualified leads.

  • Who are my posts reaching? Understanding your target audience is crucial for any social media strategy. By knowing who your posts are reaching, you can tailor your content to better resonate with them and increase engagement. This information also helps you evaluate the effectiveness of your targeting efforts and make necessary adjustments to reach a wider or more specific audience.
  • Do the users being reached match our ideal customer profile? Knowing whether the users being reached match your ideal customer profile is essential for maximizing the impact of your social media strategy. By analyzing this data, you can determine if your posts are effectively reaching the right people and if any adjustments need to be made to align with them. This information allows you to revise your messaging and optimize your social media efforts to attract and convert more ideal customers.

  • Which online activities had the best response? Analyzing the online activities that had the best response can provide valuable insights into what content resonates most with your target audience. By identifying which posts or campaigns generated the highest engagement, such as likes, comments, or shares, you can focus on creating similar content in the future to maximize your social media impact. Additionally, understanding which online activities had the best response allows you to allocate your resources effectively and invest more in strategies that yield the best results!
  • Have our social interactions lead followers to ask questions, share contact information or schedule meetings? These are important indicators of successful engagement as they demonstrate that your social interactions have not only captured attention but also sparked interest and action from your followers. By analyzing these outcomes, you can revise content and tailor it to meet the needs and preferences of your audience, ultimately driving even more meaningful interactions and conversions.

  • Are we getting positive feedback or client reviews? Positive feedback and client reviews are essential in evaluating the effectiveness of your products or services. They serve as a testament to the satisfaction and value your offerings provide, helping to build trust and credibility among potential customers. Additionally, by analyzing this feedback, you can identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments to enhance customer experience and loyalty.

I hope this information was helpful. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if you’ve ever felt this way about social media marketing for your business? Where did these questions lead you? Keep in mind, this is just a short list of data points to consider when you need answers fast!
